What is the gender pay gap?

 

The gender pay gap is a measure of how we value the contribution of men and women in the workforce.

Expressed as a percentage or a dollar figure it shows the difference between the earnings of women and men.

Closing the gender pay gap is important for Australia’s economic future and reflects our aspiration to be an equal and fair society for all.

The gender pay gap is not the same as equal pay

 

Equal pay is where women and men are paid the same for performing the same role or different work of equal or comparable value. In Australia, this has been a legal requirement since 1969. Gender pay gaps are not a comparison of like roles. Instead, they show the difference between the average or median pay of women and men across organisations, industries and the workforce as a whole.

 

 

What causes the gender pay gap?

 

The gap between women and men’s average earnings is the result of social and economic factors that combine to reduce women’s earning capacity over their lifetime.

Workplace Equity

Other stats, based on industry averages, don’t cut the mustard as we all know CEO salaries distort the figures and the majority of women in the workforce are in part time or casual positions and in the lower paid caring roles. Publishing more realistic data opens businesses to genuine commitment and improvement and accelerates change.”

For customers that receive bulk fuel and/or lubricant deliveries, this service will remain in place and will be delivered by our Mildura Depot.
Customers using the unmanned diesel bowser at the front of the depot, this will continue to operate as normal.

Congratulations to YCDCo on their 20 year anniversary!

Who is YCDCo?
The Yackandandah Community Development Company Ltd (YCDCo) was established in March 2002 by seven local residents, concerned by the impending closure of the township’s only fuel outlet.

Through the establishment of the YCDCo entity and the construction of a modern service station, fuel supplies were secured for the long term. Over the years YCDCo has extended its product range to include rural supplies and hardware. From its beginning, YCDCo identified itself as being in the ‘Community Development’ business. We support the local economy through employment, community grants and community initiative sponsorship.

Today, YCDCo is an unlisted public company with over 650 shareholders, most of whom are local residents. YCDCo proudly provides fuel, building, hardware, gardening and farming supplies locally in Yackandandah. Offering quality products and services to the local community and supporting initiatives from local community groups. YCDCo also owns and publishes Yackity Yak, their our local bi-monthly newspaper.

 

YCDCo Goals
Benefit the community: Undertake projects and initiatives which economically, socially or culturally benefit the community of Yackandandah and its surrounding areas
Retain community ownership: Retain the broad-based community ownership of YCDCo
Service town needs: Meet the needs of our growing community by providing quality products and services while supporting Yackandandah’s community groups
Generate long-term profits: Operate YCDCo on a commercially sustainable basis and generate profits in the long term
Invest in the community: Make available up to 50% of profits the company generates (after operating expenses) back to community initiatives
Support shareholders: Return up to 50% of profits to YCDCo shareholders by way of dividend payments

 

 

 

20 Year Anniversary Celebrations!

On Saturday the 25th of November, 2023 The Yackandandah Community Development Company celebrated its 20th Anniversary since establishment.

A Gala dinner was held in the local Shire hall, with approximately 120 people in attendance to recognise such the establishment of such an amazing intiative and to also celebrate the accomplishments achieved throughout the 20 years in business.

Our staff member Ray Hamilton attended where he had an opportunity to speak on our partnership with YCDCo and also our admiration for the business. 

As a company passionate about our local communities, we would like to commend and congratulate YCDCo on their 20 years in business. 

From humble beginnings in 2003 to a site now doing 4 million litres per annum, what a great success story!

ULP Drum Filling

SAFETY ALERT

 

Upon review of the Australian Dangerous Goods Code edition 7.8 we found that under Section 10.2.5.1:

“Dangerous goods of Class or Subsidiary Hazard 3 must be transferred out of a vehicle into a storage receptacle, in accordance with AS 1940. Direct transfer of these goods out of the vehicle into drums or smaller packagings is not permitted except at facilities designed or designated for the purpose, taking into account the requirements of AS 1940 and AS/NZS 60079.10.”

The decision was made that from the 01/10/2023 no deliveries of class 3 flammable products are to be made into drums.

Our depots have commenced the process of phasing this out and will be working with customers to find alternate options at the earliest convenience to ensure a seamless resolution by the cut-off date.

Bordertown OPT Product Changes

We would like to advise that as of 27/7/2023, Amplify 98 Premium unleaded will no longer be
available on the forecourt at our Bordertown Depot via the Outdoor Payment Terminal (OPT).

We are pleased to announce that we will be replacing this product with Ampols premium Diesel offering –
